Default VR-1 Velocity ?s

Just purchased a VR-1 Velocity 29, ran it for the first time over the weekend and gps came in at 95mph just wondering if thats normal speeds for the VR-1, should it be faster /slower ? Its has a 525 merc racing engine with a blower at 5 lbs of boost. Just wondering if it would be faster with a 5 blade or 4 blade? As it sits right now it has a 5 blade Hydro bone stock 30 pitch out of the box, how much more would I expect after its blue printed? Any more input would be great.

That seems pretty good, but I don't know much about the vr-1. I'm guessing a 525 with a blower is in the 700 hp range? If so that seems like a good mph for that kind of hp.

What blower do you have? Post some pictures.

Enjoy the boat. I love my velocity!

Sounds like you bought this one:

If so - Congrats, thats a nice ride.

It's got an external steering on an XR with a -2 lower on it. AND an extension box. A real badass setup, IMO.

Id be happy with the 95 in a 29 single engine - but I suspect your trying to get to 100...

Just like in Nascar when they talk about clean air , in the boating world the prop wants good water and the farther back the prop the better the water.

I have velocity 290 sc with a 600 sci with whipple stage 2 kit 740 hp i am getting 96 with a 1/4 tank of gas by myself , labbed 29 hydo 5 blade , your close to being done on speed , i have taken 2 years to get mine right , Watch out with your x/r drive its just a matter of time and you will grenade the top 1/2 , they cant take that type of power to long I have 3 buddies besides myself that have blown them to pieces with that type of HP also. went with an imco scx upper with a sc lower lost 3 mph but its bulletproof now.

Im a huge fan of the 280, 29 VR1 and 29SC.

For the type of boating I do, they are perfect. Too bad I dont have one.
