Default Damaged outdrive. Need help

I have a 04 daytona 26 eliminator and someone jumped in driver seat and reved engine to about 3500 rpm and threw drive in gear. Mechanic said it blew upper and lower drive. It is a Bravo 1 XR. 150 drive to 1 gear ratio with low water pickup. I can get new one for around 6000. Is it better to do that or get this one rebuilt? Who would you guys recomend? I am in SC but willing to ship.

What do you mean "I can get one for 6000".Don't you mean the someone who revved it up to 3500 rpm and dumped it into gear?

He said he doesn't have the money so I am stuck with the bill for now. He says he is working on getting the money but I don't want to be boatless all summer waiting.

Note to self, Don't invite that dumbass on my boat again!

BTW, What kind of sound did that make when he put in into gear?
