Thumbs up Stolen Apache mold reclaimed yesterday – Thanks OSO!

Long story short, we were able to reclaim our long lost stolen Apache hull mold yesterday!!

I put a post up on OSO about a year ago with pics and the details that we knew about the case. I received many leads and false leads from members on this site over the past year – (some of you guys really have some good eyes!) THANK YOU!! I never would have found it without OSO.

We eventually found the mold right next door to Cigarette at Mirage Yachts in Opa Locka. Mike at Mirage and I compared stories regarding this mold – he told me who he bought it from and when. After talking at length with Mike, I do not believe that he had anything to do with the theft. Additionally, he was completely professional and courteous about the whole thing – not only did he freely give the mold back to us but he actually helped to load the mold onto our trailer himself. He told me that they only made 8 boats out of the mold – Mirage 40’s is what they called them (see photo below) so that explains why I never saw any - there just weren't many made. The deck is his design so he kept that tooling telling me that he may possibly make another hull mold (with some modifications to our design of course) some day. Mirage primarily builds luxury/sport fishing Yachts so they have little interest anymore in the “go-fast” market from what I can tell.

As far as this mold – I am not sure what exactly we will do with it yet….I am just glad to have it back. Maybe a Banana 40 is not too far in the future??

Thanks again everybody!!

PS - We're still on the lookout for our triple-axle Target trailer...

Great news. Guess this closes a cold case file for sure. Are you going to dig a little deeper to find out \ prosecute the actual thieves, or just smile because you have your molds back?

Congratulations. Not enough guys who've had stuff stolen get to author a post like this one.

Yes - you and others - it just took a long time to go about this legally. You see, Opa Locka technically had jusridiction (mold was in their town) even though the crime was comitted in Broward. The Lt. in Opa Locka put it this way, "we are supposed to have 60 officers in Opa Locka - we only have 27..." It literally took months to set up the day and time to go there.

Wow. The power of OSO. Congratulations. That is a great looking blue boat in the picture. What other boats originally come from this mold?
