McClain will begin aluminum goosenecks this coming winter, expecting a 2-3K upcost for the gooseneck over tagalong.

www.oldglorytrailers.com makes a gooseneck, about a $2700 upcharge. They were great to speak with and provided me some measurements. Extra length just isn't going to make it as I've only got 40' garage, 39' inside measurement.... 31' boat, plus drives and gooseneck.... just a few feet shy....
|
i have heard that Old Glory is good to deal with...
Tim as far as the bike up front, so far I haven't had to stick the tongue in the water to get the boat off or on the trailer so keeping the bike dry isn't the issue....but like you say I would have to have it there for balance and when the boat was off all the weight is on the truck. Not a big deal since it's a F350 deasil but to have to drag it ALL the time would suck!! the only time I would want it is when we go away for weekend trips and then the truck is full of slide in camper?? we want to boat days and bike to restaurants and such at night |

Broward, beautiful trailers!
Yes, there's a huge difference trailering with a goose-neck vs std bumper pull trailer. My 46 cig pulls just as nice, if not nicer than my much lighter 37 OL, despite the cig rig weighing AT LEAST 6k more. Both are on steel Myco's, but the 46 is a goose-neck. Now going up a steep hill is another story, you can really feel the extra weigh, there's no hiding that with the goose-neck lol. BTW, my goose-neck is set up with racks on the front to carry two bikes... the previous owner use the racks to carry two full sized Harley's back and forth across-country and said he couldn't tell the difference with or without the bikes on there. Below is a pic. You cant see the racks (one on either side) very well, but you can get the idea of how they are setup by looking at the shadow on the ground. If someone wanted more detailed pics of the motorcycle racks, LMK and I can take more detailed pics of them. They would be great for a moped, pit bike, scooter, etc as well. http://i178.photobucket.com/albums/w...gontrailer.jpg |
Never mind, I just realized this thread is 7 years old, haha!

Are there any issues launching and retrieving with a gooseneck that are different or good to be aware of?
For example do you need to have more water at the ramp or get the truck closer/deeper to the water? |
