Anybody noticing a trend here? Those small block and single engine boats are doing pretty good on fuel. Nice to have the big boat with big power, but sure costs you! Been looking at boats, and definately leaning toward a single engine lately.

all i can say is for the big boats like our 50 with 3 950 say 140 gal. per hour if you have to worry about the gas price and how much you burn then you cant aford the boat and you better get a moped!!

140 GPH

I see from other threads your looking for a 38 Fountain. Twin Big Blocks will burn about 30-40 gallons an hour at cruise.....WOT you can double it. if you spend the day on the water and only spend 2.5-3 hours driving your going to burn 100-120 gallons easy. (a least that's what we do in a 38 Formula)
|
80-100 Gallons a day....... Twin 502's in a Formula 400SS, although it all depends on how hard the Gennie is running...:D :D
|
40-50 gallons. Wow 140gph, I can get almost 3 days out of that.
|
Usually 50 to 60 gal. 80 on a poker run.
|
40 to 60 depending on if I do longer runs. I think I burned almost 100 over Mem day weekend, that should leave about 30 in the tank. I'll find out the next fill up. (oooh dey gonna hate me at da Costco soon):evilb:
Someone at the Clearwater ramp jokingly asked if I was running 4 cylinders............I replied that it was a hybrid. I said it runs off both paper AND plastic:evilb: |

I average 11-12 GPH, single 496HO. That's some idle, cruise, and WOT.
I can cruise at 55 MPH at 3400 RPMS. At that speed I'm getting around 4 MPG. Not too bad for a boat. |
I'm waiting for Gino to post on this thread!!!:drink:
