I saw one of those Trident boats at Jobbienooner this year. It was pretty sweet. Ilmor V10, cat hull, deckboat on top.

Another vote for the Searay 240 Sundeck. :D

Most deck boats (non-performance hulls) are not great with big water. The SR 240 has a deep V and deep dead-rise and is just heavy. It handle nasty water really well.

I've been told by another OSO'r who has a Nordic 28 Heat and has spent time with my SR, that mine handle the chop as well as his heat. For what it's worth.

The biggest thing is it's absolutely awesome when it comes to use of space. It's got storage out the wazoo, a good sized head with sink etc. 20 gallon fresh water tank etc. A great SUV-plus on the water.

Oh, and ya, it's not a performance boat, not a fast hull by any means, and heavy (5500-6000 lbs on the water, wet and loaded, more with a boat load of people) but they can be made to run pretty decent. See sig line. :D

If you are loking at the high end of the deck boat lines, you really need to look at Conquest. By far the nicest decks out there. They are available with just about any motor you want and the fit and finish are to a very high standard. A 28ft er with a 525 will run just about 80mph. Lots of room and they ride very well. I have a few friends with them.

You are crazy. My uncle has one of those 240 sea rays....cannot imagine a monster motor in it.

It might surprise you, it's stable as can be too. At 60 MPH you can get up and walk around. I don't recommend it, but you could. ;)

I can answer your question as I've operated various Hurricane deck boats 22ft and 24 ft for 15+ years. They are not so great at handling rough water. Small chop they are fine but anything bigger than 1+ft and you can have a bumpy ride or you have to come way off the throttle. Space wise and layout are great.
