Sunsations are a good value boat. You will not re-coup your money.
So don't waste it UNLESS you want to do it w/o any expectations of a return.

Many of those old Apache, Cigarette, Magnum restorations are getting pennies on the dollar returns. You can "ask" any price on any brand but selling it is another thing. You should just enjoy that boat "as is" and try to put as little as possible into it.

They have the name, just not the history of some of the old guard. As for a lake or river boat, you couldn't be more wrong. They run like chit in smooth water.

I don't have an educated opinion on whether or not you should do the upgrades. I do however have another question that may help shed some light on the situation.

When you were looking to purchase your boat there were several members that showed you boats in the 70-80k price range. You inidicated that was out of your price range. (something I can fully understant) This boat was one of the few on the market you could afford that met your requirements. If you spend 30-40k in upgrades on this boat wouldn't you have 70-80k in it when your done? ;)

You could have spent that much to begin with and not messed with anything other than regular maintenance and fuel.

I'm glad you pointed out that it doesn't matter what name brand a boat it is, if you dump tons of money in it, be prepared to keep it, or take a BIG hit when you try to sell.

well, the whole deal was to buy a cheaper boat and pay it off in a couple of years and then refinance it to purchase motors and upgrades..that make sense? Ill probably just do some minor stuff to it to make it what i want and then just buy something after i pay it off (or down) and sell it to the next budget buyer..

That was what I was trying too say, HISTORY is a better word for it, sorry, And the only reason I said river&Lake was that is where I mainly see them around here. Have only riden in a 32 and it was a very nice ride.
