Vibration...any thoughts?
I have a Sunsation Dominator 32SS. On the water today, something weird happened. I was slowing down after a high speed run and when the boat settled off plane and the water rushed the transom, I felt a bad vibration. This is the first time I ever felt this and it was a bit unnerving. I immediately went back on plane and came off 2 more times to see if i could replicate it and I could not. Interestingly enough, I had used the boat 2 times earlier in the day (top speed around 1/2 throttle) and I didn't feel it then either.
Interesting thing is that I just had the 20 hour service done and I know they pulled the drives and checked the alignment. Any thoughts what it could be? Should I be concerned? |
Start It On The Trailer And Listen For Any Noise In The Drive Area. Other Than That, You Might Have Picked Something Up On On Of The Blades,ie Bag, Seaweed, And It Spun Off.

you picked up a piece of debris that lodged between the transom and the front of your drive; once you planed again it floated away - has happened numerous times with me - jeff

Shawn, I have experienced this several times. My port engine does not decelerate a quickly as my starboard for some reason. When this happens I will get a bad vibration when coming off plane. I have to accelerate the starboard motor back up to where the port is to stop it.
If it happens again look at your tachs to see if that is your case. |
Thanks Macklin...will try that today. I bet this is indeed the case as my starboard engine seems to run 200 RPM ahead of my port thru the mid-range on a regular basis. Thanks for that....

Not sure if only 200 will do that. Mine happens when they get 500 apart.

No, just adjust the throttle cables until they match at mid-range.

Sounds like you guys have mis-matched props.
Not to steal Shawn's thread, but has anyone else experienced this with 525's? If so, what is the cause?? |
