Let's see your trailer tool boxes
I want to add a diamond plate box to my trailer. I have a good source for the box, but want to see how they are attached.
can anyone post pics of their installation method / bracketry, and where they bought their box? thanks Ramb |
Here are mine. I bought them off e-bay then notched them out and replated with aluminum.

I tried the smaller boxes with the side opening doors and they did not have the room I wanted and they always had water in them even though they had the rubber seals.
I finally had a custom box built and could not be happier. This one is angled so it fits over the top of the trailer frame. This gives me more height and it works great as a platform to climb off the bow onto. Good heavy gauge and supports my 220 lbs easy. The lid is on the top and has a lip all the way around to keep water and rain out and is also rubber sealed and has the gas shocks to hold it open. It has the two paddle latches that are stainless steel and holds everything I need it to hold. I googled "Custom Tool Box" about two years ago and found them I do know they were out of Maryland and it cost about $500.00 total with shipping and took about two weeks to get. Here's the link to the company that built it. http://www.truck-tool-box.com/custom_boxes.shtml |

whjat are the dimensions of your box and did you just drill and tap the frame or thru bolt to mount it ( plus overhange flange) I'll be glad to check the dimensions tonight when I get home. I went as large as possible. One key point also is to keep it flush with the bottom of the frame. You don't want it hanginf below the trailer. I did through bolt to the frame. Used 3/8 diameter bolts with large fender washers and used RTV silicone to seal them. It is very solid and has never leaked a drop of water. |
