A local guy blew his top cap a couple weeks ago. Called me looking for a replacement cap since he thought everything else would be fine.......I told him there was sure to be other damage. Everything in the upper was toast!!!! Good Luck, but just in case, expect the bill to include alot of parts.
Gear set, bearings, seals, input shaft (twisted), luckily the case was not damaged. I bought a re-man upper 'cause the gear set was on backorder from Mercury for about 3-weeks now. Found another set in the clasified. At least now I'll have a spare. Still waiting on the newer style top caps and gears from Mercury.
