Aside form all the technical details the new silver cap is better thatn the older gold cap. Better base and closer to the original red cap. Check the threads in Tech section. I have always used mobile one. When the red cap went away I started using gold. Noticed increased temps and usage. Found a couple of gallons of the old red cap and used it for a change. Temps back down. Several more changes on gold and temps/usage back up. Switched to silver and all is good again.

The silver is back out for around $23 for 5 qts at walmart. Hydro said the gold cap is crap. I concur.

Per the Marine Lubrication thead, Hydro stated they went to a new formula on the EP Gold Cap that is up to par.

I did just buy the Silver cap 15w50 two weeks ago at WalMart.
