Greg, is the problem in the engine or the shifters. If it isn't the engine you don't need a Yamaha shop to check it out. I might be in Annapolis delivering a boat later this week if you're around let me know maybe I can help you figure it out.

Mark,
Thanks for the offer.
I appreciate all the help and offers from the OSO and CBPBA members.
This isn't really as sudden as it seems, I've almost put it up for sale several times, but always thought I'd finally beaten the last problem. At the present I think I need to let the sale attempt run it's course and see what happens.

In S Florida repowering with some used outboards would be pretty easy. Around here there aren't many big outoards around and no one I talked with had anything.

it seems your throwing the baby out with the bathwater !!
it may be something as simple as cable out of adjustment ,how did it shift the last time out? you can identify the likely sorce of problem by the quick disconnect at the motor, check the shifter and cable for smooth operation and if all good its probably the lower unit, they are plentifull and fairly cheap for a good used one of that vintage as most motors are blown but the lowers are good, you should be able to get a good used lower for about $600 at scream and fly and just back it up to a beach and pull it off, what is like six nuts and a bolt !! should take about 20 minutes start to finish

Hey GregP,
I'm sure your mad and upset now but try and see if you can get her fixed or repower even if you have to wait 6-12 months. That hull you have is AWESOME as I'm sure you already know and you will miss her later.
Hey ScottB,
I just noticed from your link www.blanchardmachinery.net

If you ever need anything just let me know.
