Garmin 660. Very versatile. Portable. Rechargeable, built in battery lasts a looooong time. Blue tooth compatible. Very easy to use.

garmin Nuvi 350. LOVE IT. Rated #1 in Consumer Reports. $350 @ buydig.com. $499 @ best buy
Doesn't have bluetooth........... didn't want it. But the Nuvi $360 does. Has text to speak which is a must... i.e it'll speak street names not just "turn left in 100'' Most under $350 DO NOT have text to speak. Also, have logger which records avg. speed, not speed, distance etc. Also, consumer reports rate the TOM TOM One a CR Best Buy @ $249. |
meant NUVI 360 not $360. It's about $40 more for the 360 which has bluetooth. $396 @ buydig.com

If you have a double-DIN opening in your dash and plan on using the GPS exclusively in that truck, look at Pioneer. I had a D1 and now have the Pioneer Z1. It's got a number of different map views for you to choose from, the points-of-interest are very up-to-date, and the unit is fast. On top of that, it's also the stereo / video head unit.
It's got a 30-gig HD for storing albums or individual songs. Once you rip them to the HD, you no longer need the CD. You also can watch DVDs. I have my rear-view camera hooked up to it as well as XM satellite radio, bluetooth, and Ipod. It's one unit that does everything. |
anybody found a alt hook up for vss signal on 08 S D diesel fords ? some say you can get it at antilock brake sensor I need to have it for pioneers avic d3 to work pioneer tecks say the truck does not have a vss signal

I would think that the SD would have to have a VSS wire or else Ford's own GPS system wouldn't be able to work the way it does. I checked www.ford-trucks.com but couldn't find any information. You may want to try one of the electronics installers sites (can't remember them right now but I think one is called 12 volt). They usually have tons of real-world information from guys all over the country doing installs...

Do you have Verizon as a cellular provider? If you do, the VZ navigator is right there in your phone and as good as any of these products in my opinion. Compare $9.99 per month vs. $350.00 now. If you have to buy something, in almost 3 years ($350 divided by $9.99) can you imagine how much better and cheaper these devices will be?

Went with Garmin NUVI 350 for $350
I liked some others but I just didn't want something that expensive laying in the truck. Thanks for all the input:ernaehrung004: |
