exhaust manifolds
I am looking at replacing my stock BBC merc manifolds and maybe go with the alumium ones? Anyone use them? or should I get the stainless ones?

If you are looking at replacing the stock manifolds and NOT spending a fortune, check out Marineexhaustmanifolds.com . They carry replacements at a very good price. I have used their products on 2 different boats and, and have seen ZERO problems with either.
As for the aluiminum VS stainless, if you boat in salt water, go with stainless. Darrell. |
I have two sets of fresh water use only stock merc manifolds with elbows. No leaks and all you need is gaskets(elbow and exhaust). Manifolds are in cali and can have them shipped out this week. 300.00 a set plus shipping.... These type do hook up to the GIL pipes...

Are these the gil manifolds or the stock cast iron manifolds.

Stainless?? You may be referencing the company Stainless Marine - which makes awesome exhaust systems - but they are not made of stainless steel. The risers are - but not the manifolds.

Right now I have the stock Merc manifolds with no leaks, just was looking to up grade performance and maybe shed some weight with the lighter alumium ones..I have steel heads and was worried about expantion differences between the steel and alumium killing the gaskets...I do mostly lake but salt water maybe once or twice a year...thanks for all the input

Give these some thought, http://revolutionmarine.com/shopsite...bcexhaust.html
cant be beat for the price and fit well. I know of two sets that have four years use in salt and fresh, no problems so far. |

I would love to hear more input on these manifolds! Are there issues with aluminum to cast heads,do they flow better than stock, etc. I am not worried about the preformance aspects as much as durabillity and sheading the extra pounds off the arse end of me boat! :D
