Aries VS JE pistons
2 Attachment(s)
I have never had a piston totally fail like this in 27 yrs.Anyone else having problems with JE pistons. This was the reason I missed emerald coast, what a *****.The rest were perfect and only about 10 hrs run time. After comparing the two JE is no comparison to the aries pistons i allways ran.

Did the wrist pin seize up to cause that?
|
Hard to say but all were set up with the same clearance. The pin was still lose in the rod.I have burnt my share and have had wrist pin failures but nothing compared to this the piston was gone. Thanks

All we use are JE pistons. Never an issue.

saw one that an engine builder took to much off the botom of the wrist pin boss on the piston to balance it, and it did not last long, hope this was not the issue for you.

Did it look like the piston seized or "black death"?
|
Ouch!! :(
