An Attempt to Ban OffShore Boats on Lake Washington?!?
http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/htm...eboats18e.html
I was reading my local paper and found this article that was talking about the potential banning of "cigarette style" boats from Washington's Lake Washington. The article took a biased view IMO as it seemed to relate all offshore boats to that of drug runners or those who had a reason to evade the law. The majority of the article talked about the noise emitted from this type of boat, and a potenial banning of them because of this. In my opinion that is an incorrect assesment of the problem. The lake already has laws that restrict decible levels from all boats, and if a boat is in violation it is the responcibility of the owner, not the manufacurer of the boat.
Likewise, i can buy a Ferrari that is capable of 200 mph, and yet the highest speed limit in the US is 70 mph? Does that mean that we should ban all high performance sports cars? No! And why? because it is the driver's responcibility to obide by the rules whether or not he has the potential to exceed or break them.
I was just curious what your thoughts were about this article. As you can tell from my post count, this is my first time contributing to the site, but i have been visiting the site for a long time now and must say i think its great!
