Thumbs up OT - Bought New Truck!!!

I came to the sad realization not too long ago that my beloved 1990 Ford Bronco was not going to make it very much longer. I loved that truck and everything about it. But it was getting up there in years and I just turned 225000 Miles! It was a great truck...

I picked up a 2002 F-250 SuperCab XLT with the 6.8L V-10! 3.73 Rear-end, Auto, Black.

MAN, WHAT A TRUCK! The ride is like nothing else in that size and class. Everything is so effortless in that thing and it is really comfortable for a truck. Maybe it's just been too long since I've had a nice, new vehicle, but it's great! I'm still breaking it in, but we took a nice long cruise to my folks' house this weekend to the east coast and it was tough to take it easy and keep the speed down...It just wanted to go faster, effortlessly!

Sorry for being long-winded, but I'm way too excited about it!

I was like this all weekend, grinning ear-to-ear!

Congratulations!!
Good choice, except the color.
Black???
You know as well as I do what happens to dark colored vehicles in the Florida sun. You can bake bread inside of them.
Get the widows tinted and get a good sun shield for the dashboard.

With a V-10 and 3.73 gears, I wonder what type of mileage you'll get. Keep us posted.

I have a '97 F250 Lariat with the 5.4, 3.73 gears and I get 11 to 12 mpg around town.
Towing? Forget it, I can see the gage move.

Thanks a lot for the congrats and kind words!
As far as black, I love Black...All my vehicles have been black so I'm completely used-to and aware of what happens. IMO, it's the most fitting on Big trucks. So what if I can cook my eggs while I drive to work in the morning. LOL!

As a matter of fact, I already have the tinting lined-up for next week and the visor is a must for any vehicle in FL.

Iggy, as far as milage...You don't want to know right now...
It's still breaking-in, so I don't know what it'll end up being. I expect somewhere between 10-12mpg when all is said and done. But I'm used to it.

Thanks Dean!
Yes, I did...Very Long and Hard. It was a tough call, but I simply couldn't justify it. I found a few I liked, new and used, but after a while I realized, I just did not need it.

I know what you all say, but when it came down to it, this is a daily driver(commuter) for the most part and with towing being a concern I wanted the power(V-10 or PS), but I only "need" it a hanful of times per year...

Couple that with the increased routine maintenance costs of a diesel, I simply couldn't convince myself that I needed it.

Oh ya BTW, I also spent a lot of time on www.Ford-diesel.com researching and it seems like they still have a few bugs to work out with "Cackling" and faulty cam position sensing hardware and software. There's also rumors that the 7.3 will be no more come next year...But it's only a rumor...
