Russian TV3 is a nice engine it has a hot end take off, 2200 hp light and efficient although you will need a reduction box.

After seeing the Discovery show on Miss Geico last night I can see how turbines make since in these big boats.

When you consider that the modern day version of the T-53, which is still made under licence by Kawasaki, has not changed in the level of technology from the ones that are being used in boats these days. And that to buy a brand new T-53 certified to go into an aircraft will set you back $1.8M (Yes Million) just for the engine sitting in a box next to your helicopter. Last time I checked... a freshly overhauled T-53 certified to go in an aircraft was about $290K Now get rid of all that certification and you have a boat motor...
