Could these be used in a boat?
 

I ran across these on a website. Does anyone know what they were originally used for?

Looks like one use was for ground power units used by airplanes. When your plane is boarding, and the engines are stopped, a GPU provides that semi cool air in the cabin. Easiest to notice it right before they start the engines, they unhook it, and the air stops.....

Don't know if it would do much for a hi po boat.....only 200 horse.........

GTCP series were usually used for ground air starts- many of the military jets (and some civilian airliners/corporates) utilize pneumatic starters. Bleed air off the GPU supplies the air to get the first engine started- aircraft could supply its own bleed air at that point. They also were used to drive generators or hydraulic pumps for ground power.
Adaptation for boat use would be difficult at best- you're usually talking 12,500+/- RPM at the PTO pad for the generator or pump.
A good share of the turbine engines used for boat conversions are adaptations from helicopters the Huey and Chinook to name a couple (Lycoming LTS-101, T53, T58.

They are also used as APU's, making aircraft independant of ground support equipment. On the P-3 Orion, it provided electrical, and A/C, and provided bleed air for engine starts.
