Great thread Brownie. A lot of unanswered questions finally answered,especially the origins of the 7 by 24 hulls.

I met Harry Schoel in about 92 when my grandad had a sportfish he built as Infinity Yachts. He only built a couple of the boats but they were highly advanced for their time.

I think,........ if you actually know us ......... Brownie and I agree probably 99% of the time.

The 23' Magnum was never built as a production boat. They made one for Bob Magoon. It was speifically designed to to be a twin outboard offshore racer. It was probably the first glass boat that was built without a "plug" or master from which the mold is made. Harry drew the boat to Don's spec, and built the mold from Formica. Big breakthrough in those days........

I'm glad that I have met Brownie at boat shows and had some great discussions with Harry during the
mid and late 90's.
I wish I could have been around all these legends back in the day.
I grew up in Houston and never knew of the races in the ship channel of the 60's until becoming friends with Frank Adams, Fred Cunill and Mr. Red Adair in the 70's.
These guys were my introduction to Cigs, Donzis and Formulas.
I remember Harry telling me he didn't need a mold to build a boat..and history proves it.
I also believe I read and saw pictures of sailing ships having stepped hulls in the last half of the 1800's.

I've been intrigued by the Schoell DDC hull, long before I got into this silly sport of hi performance. I think it was Larson who built a DDC center console.

I was also fascinated by Arneson's first surface drives long before I got into this also.
