OK, thanks for all the suggestions... but I think my wife and I just fell in love with a totally different boat. READ: WIFE and I. So, rather than try to fight the system... I just gave in and would like more info on the Sunsation 288. The one with the cabin and the bow rider.

My wife just loves the bow rider but a cabin (or actually a pump out porta pot) are necessary. This is the best of both worlds.

I'm out of the budget now but that's OK as the wife has approved!

Is the Sunsation a good boat?

Small lakes bow rider yes, great lakes bow rider no way. Other than the really small flat lakes a bow rider is going to be a waste cause you're not going to be able to ride up there anyway. Before you do anything, put your wife in the bow of any boat, even enclosed, and take her for a ride.

The 288 is a very good boat. I don't think you will here anyone who has owned one say a bad thing about them. People have raved about the customer service they get from Sunsation.

I'll build it any way you want it for well under 40K:DIts in the classifieds under project boat.

Great boat, I have a 32 MCOB that has served us well. I have done several poker runs and even 2 trips to the Bahamas with this boat. A 288 MCOB came out in 03 I believe so there should be plenty for sale but it may be a few years before they hit the 40K level.

I think she likes the bow more for easy cruising on calm water. The performance aspect is more for me. We're trying to compromise here.
