I have a buddy that had a 292 with the 350 mags , it was real slow to get on plane , rode nose high all the time.other than that it was a fine built boat,Interrior ,cabin,gell etc was top notch...I would try to get the next step up!!!!

I would love to get the 353......too many lbs. and too many $$'s. Also, to be honest I find going to a 30' twin a bit intimidating from a 22' single. I might have to be medicated docking a 35'.......I know, I know everone says a twin is easier than a single......
What about the ability to handle chop in the 292 versus the 312? Will the extra 2' and 1000 lbs. make a large difference?
Can a 292 plane at 10 MPH........going through the no wake zones?

I dont think it will plane that slow.When I drove my buddys I thought he was doing something wrong ,so I made sure it was trimed down and tabs down it was still plowed to get on plane and didnt level off untill moving pretty fast , also the boat had 4 blade props and it was proped right.This is the only thing I didnt like about the boat.
If you cant aford to go larger with BB's get the largest you can aford.Also ck insurance $$.If you go 29 you will prob end up moving up in a few years . I went from a 28 ft Scarab single to a 38 Hustler ,its a lot easier to handle ,but in tight windy places ya sometimes you want someone on the bow so ya dont scratch it

I agree......in a few years I may go larger.....they say 2 "footitist". I currently drop $400/year for insurance. Will a 292 be that much more?

The 292 with twin 6.2's would be insurance friendly .
You could upgrade the engines later with prochargers
if you become bored with 70 mph ! The 292 would be a
huge improvement over what you had . I boat in rough
water [ twin 6.2's ] and my boat is only 25'7 .I just slow
down to 40 mph when gets nasty .

There is no way that a 292 or a 312 will run on plane at much below 20-25 mph.
depending on where the boat is used, insurance is going to be at least $1000 a year. Probably more.
In chop, the 312 is going to be better. Its a pure length and weight deal. The 292 is about 27' water line, and the 312 is about 29'. that 2 feet in the water make a LOT of difference if you are in rough water trying to span waves.
