What are you guys using to remove the discoloration. Sort of a brownish/blue color. Any suggestions would be greatly appriciated.

Buy the stuff called on & off at any parts place. Spray it on a rag, wipe the rag on the header, and off comes the discoloration.

The only place mine ever get any color change is right at the head., and that is very slight.

Polish called "Rolite" Its the best ever. Look it up on the net and order some. It has many uses plastics, metals, etc. Its awesome

This season, I had a water flow issue. It caused 1 header to turn brown/blue in a matter of seconds. As was mentioned, On/Off took the majority of the discoloration off. The rest was polished off with a good metal polish. The header looks like new again.

Thanks for the input. I don't believe I have any water flow issues although I did get hot oncce due to sucking mud in. The discoloration is only on one side and down low close to the base of the header. It hasn't gotten any worse over time. I'll clean it and keep an eye on it.

If your water-jacketed headers are turning blue, you have water flow issues. If your tubes are turning blue, your heads are getting cooked as well- maybe even the lower end. It doesn't take much overheating to crack a head between the seats or drop a seat out. A pressure check on the heads now may save you a complete motor replacement later.

Everyone should have a water pressure gauge with the sender mounted in the intake crossover. That's the only way to know if your engine is getting coolant.

When I lost my water pump and discolored my headers I used this stufff called "Worlds easiest metal polish" It works great, it took off the oxidation very easy without using any tools. I simply hand polished them and it came out great. I have laso used the stuff on heavily oxidized brass. Which again turned out great.
