Oh Boy -
Another apache thread right down the $hitter!
And, no disrespect intended, but were Cigarette's built by Craig Barry better than those built by Skip Braver...I mean after all, Craig raced them, didn't he ? Just trying to follow some of the misguided logic ????
Alot of ground covered, but no talk of the New-Tech Apache's with the steps ? Pretty big to just sweep under the rug ...
I've said this before- "the sum of MANY parts"
Oh, and before it comes up, I don't own an Apache because I cannot afford one...but if I could I would.

Cigarette: Things changed when Don died but they've also kept the name alive and have built a heck of a lot of boats since then and the technology has evolved over the years. Kodos to them for a job well done.
New Tech - The same goes with McManus, Chief still has the molds for the 42', one can be built if a customer desires.. One is for sale, with all the menusia aside, from the video's I've seen it runs pretty well.
Bottom line....people are passionate about Apache no matter what side of the fence you sit on.....thus we may actually pay more money for something we are passionate about...
Why are they percieved expensive? They just are....deal with it...
Next beer is on me!

The cabin plans do involve cutting the dash to make cabin access easier. When it is closed up the dash will look just like it does now. There will be a regular door instead of the zippered vinyl flap and the dash area above the door will be hinged so it will open up. That is the initial thought anyway. Stepping down into the cabin there will be an enclosed head to the right (under the dash) with a covergirl style 1/2 cabin consisting of two simple, facing sofas. No berth in the bow, just the sofas. If this goes as planned we will also install a generator and AC. The layout would be something like the cabin in these pics from their web site, but not as fancy and without the forward berth.
As for the weight of the boat right now, we figure that it's between 13K and 14K pounds.

One of those is for sale. I just dropped the price today to 149K to see if we can move it before Key West. If not, it looks like it will be staying down there at Guardado after Key West to have a cabin built. I got an e-mail back from Eddie today and he said that they can take it in and get started immediately.

Keep the boat as it is and buy the kids a skiboat with a bigblock... thisway everyones happy.
If you get a cabin boat you´ll soon find out that the cabin doesn´t get much use.
If boats up here doesn´t get their cabins used much but the flybridges and aft decks instead then howabout some warmer places??

it had 482s and they did race it in the real early days....17th ave days where bob started apache...tom evans was the original boat builder/rigger. when sales took off ben moved him to the fort and got marc to reduce the production cost and time..cut corners so to speak..
So I guess a 33 with 482´s (and Kinsler fuel injection?) will outrun one

I was 5 and you were 15 when all this was happening....neither of us worked there or owned the company.... I'm sure we both have friends/relatives who were there and similiar to the old Indian campfire stories about Geronimo etc. the stories have their place...
It's just not worth arguing anymore....
