And the best of it...shows how corrupt the whole boat industry is/was in S.Fl and everybody else around.
Ok so we´ve lost Thunderboat Row...but at least powerboats contributed to building the Miami Skyline....

I called the builder of my 42 Harley back when I first bought it to ask him a few questions. It had these funky vents going to the props that I had no clue what they were for.( First surface drive boat I have owned) He got to talking about it. He said he built the boat for two cubans from Miami who were in the "funny Business".
They specified that the boat needed a 900 mile range, and cruise at 35 with 15,000 lbs cargo aboard. He rigged it with triple 450hp Merlin diesel engines , fixed surface drives and 900 gal fuel capacity. (Now is twin gas, still has the big tanks) Strictly utility finish.
They put 15,000lbs of sand bags in the boat for sea trial and it would not get up on plane. So he hastily installed prop vents and then it would plane. The customers took delivery.
Harley bought the boat back at auction the next year and sold the engines. Converted the boat to twin gas and a pleasure interior and sold it again.
This is what the builder told me himself.
Oh yeah; the original color was dark green.
