Please, Please

Respond to this survey.
Just heard this ***** from LOWA on KRMS for the last half hour. She is really push limits on docks. Claims majorty of people think 30' is enough. Of course her main goal is smaller boats. Said majority of boats here are 26'. This needs to be spread to as many people as possible. Post to other boards you may belong to. Nix it now before FERC adopts the new shoreline management plan. Please respond to the survey.

Ameren U.E. Prepares
The Shoreline Management Plan for
The Lake of the Ozarks

Ameren U.E. met with stakeholders Tuesday, October 23, 2007 at the Osage Beach City Hall to discuss their Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) required by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). ). This document contains various means of protecting the environment, our shoreline, regulating docks, etc. If the public wants changes, this is the time to do it before the SMP is completed. Otherwise, relicensing for Ameren and your opportunity to request changes will not occur for another 50 years

One of the items being discussed is the topic of dock size. The Missouri Water Patrol, for the safety and future of the Lake, wants to reduce the size of future boat docks and boat slips. With this item being on the table for discussion, the public interested in Lake Safety needs to decide what size we want dock slips to be limited to. Obviously, if we get dock slip sizes regulations reduced, that will eventually reduce the size of future boats on the Lake.

So, please, this is our one opportunity to get our families with smaller boats back out on the Lake on the weekends and year around. For Ameren to make a decision, we need as many emails and/or letters as possible. We will need hundreds, if not thousands, so please ask everyone you know to send an email preferably or a letter if email is not an option. Please be specific on why you think, for safety reasons, we need to reduce the size of dock slips and boats at the Lake of the Ozarks. If you have a story about your safety being at risk on the Lake due to large boats, large wakes, or large docks being in the way, please tell us your story in an email or letter. This is our one chance to make a HUGE difference at the Lake in our lifetime. Otherwise, the next opportunity will not occur for another 50 years! So please, let’s all join together as Our Lake One Voice.

I answered the survey as anyone on OSO would.
Good Luck,
Dan

The docks and slips don't make the wakes that cause the damage. The length of boats don't cause the wakes or damage. Its the displacement of the HUGE boats. There needs to be a displacment limit on the boats on LOTO. Enact a diplacement limit and grandfather the boats already at LOTO. Make them register them at LOTO so the tax $$ stay at the lake and charge an annual fee that gets progressively higher with more displacement.

Controlling the size of docks and slips makes about as much sense as limiting the garage size in your house to reduce the number of SUV's and trucks.

Freakin Tree huggers. That sounds like a great way to turn LOTO into a ghost town where the only industry will be Meth production.

Griff you hit the nail on the head:p:D I stated the same, I said more docks to break the wakes, like the jetties at the shoreline on the cape:p
