There is Brad Smith at Bob's Pit Stop in Joplin. Probably too far away since you have no trailer, but he is top notch on big time marine engines. He turned my 454 MAG MPI into a 500 with no troubles at all. He is "nobody" here on the board. (417) 499-7855

First, I would come up with a goal of how much HP you want and then decide on the application that makes the most economical sense as well as dependability. The "I want more speed, i.e. hp" process pops up in all of our heads at some time. The real question is, How much work do you want it to be to maintain them? As stated the 500's can make a lot of power with some dependable cam and head adjustments to get you near 600 hp. Above that, you are definitely looking at more maintenance and less dependability. My good friend from St. Louis area used Gruninger's Marine out of pontoon beach for his upgrades on 502's to over 700hp and they were bulletproof for 3 seasons until he sold them. All he did was change the oils, fluids, and plugs. 618-210-4920. pm me with any questions. Hammer

You might want to give Matt or Steve a call over at Advanced Marine off of W-12...there pretty good too...
http://advancedmarineinc.com They built and Installed the Whipples on my Gen V and even upgraded the heads with inconnel valves. They are turn key and have been for 2 years. We run 5 lbs of boost and they idle with no blower surge and behave perfectly around the dock. My bravos do not like the power but if you are gentle coming out of the hole and easy when leaving the water running hard they will hold. |
We should have our new plenum top done soon for the 500 and 525 EFI. It will allow more air flow into the engine with less restriction. Tyler
