Rick,
Sorry to here about the problems and feel your pain. I should be back up for new years though and you are welcome to jump on with us. I often wonder myself whether the agrivation is worth it but you just get this sport in your blood and kind of like heroin its hard to kick.
BTW I think boat is actually spelled with two t's Break Out Another (Ten,Twenty,Thirty) Thousand

I may take ya up on the seat. I am thinking of just slapping another powerhead on it, but with the holidays and stuff, I may not be tested, and up to running with the big boys by then. Should only be about two t's in this boatt, two thousand or so this time

Did you punch a hole in the cylinder or just have alluminum come off the piston? I have had a LOT of luck getting the allum. off the cylinder walls when I melted down a few pistons. Acid and scotchbright pad. It takes time but does work well.

in reply to the 2 bottom burned cyl. i would almost bet you got water back up thru the exhaust.could happen by coming off plane hard ,motor mounting to low ,excess water in bilge ,large wave hitting back of motor ,excess wieght on back of boat .seen it alot in my area ,people gather on back of boat at island to party ,drink and swim and flood to bottom cyl. also had a boat go into water no bottom plug and when he realized it started it up to put it back on trailer and burned two bottom cyls.this is also common on bracketed boats because the motor is so far off the back of boat it goes deeper than normal

Check the string gasket between the cyl. and the exhaust plate. Does the exhaust plate look clean where the exhaust comes out of the cyl. ? if the leak is on the exhaust side it will suck water in on the down stroke. It is unlikely the both head gaskets failed at the same time.
