Didn't Mythbusters prove that this pole-splitting-the-hull accident wasn't possible?

I watched that episode, it would just bounce off if it was hit straight on. They finally tried turning hard into the pole and were able to duplicate the accident.

Sorry guys.. I'm involved with that tratment a bit due to the Consulting I do.
On a different note... I still have night mares. First boat. 1974.. 16' Hustler. First day out, I Lake geneva. WI. First 10 minutes.. just on plane, having the day of my life. Bang,, boom... mid way to the lake.
Hit something underwater, steel or concrete... Prop was half way "grinded off".. looked like a saw blade.. semi hart attack..
I been so ever care full ever since. My friends and passangers always complain, why I am not sociable or talkitive while I drive. 100 % ready for just about anything... anytime.. you have to be.

I hit a pole in '78 in my 20' Cruiser...took the drive right off. It was an OMC drive with the knuckle type drive. That stops you right in your tracks and then cost alot of $$$$$
