Headhunter called today and stated a position is open in that area.

Been on the net looking at all of the pro's and con's. housing, crime, overall cost of living, etc. Not to bad BUT

Now I need info about boating in that area. I see that Havasu is about a 2 hr drive. Is there any closer than that? If not what do most of you do with your boats; Dry Stack, Marina or trailer each day?

Any and all info will be appreciated.

I don't live there but we're not too far away and my folks live in Carefree which is north of Scotsdale (Phoenix). Lake Pleasant is the local lake there that most go too. It's pretty good size and gets pretty busy. There are a couple others like Barlett but they are much smaller. And, as you mentioned Havasu. You can always haul to the coast (think SCOPE poker run!).

As far as boating you are 20 min from Saguaro Lake 45 from Canyon Lake and 60 min from Lake Pleasant which is the "party lake" if you go to Saguaro you are 15 min from my place. Yes we trailer everywhere.

The lakes here are puny but again i am from Michigan... Crime is on the rise but house prices are falling so you choose if that is good or not. You got to love the fact that there are lots of ILLEGAL MEXICANS who drive here with no insurance, but the weather is perfect here 8 months out of the year! Like anywhere else GOOD AND BAD!!! HITMAN

so Lake Pleasant is the place to be but I see that Saguaro and Canyon are running into each other. Is this a really long boat ride? Does the water fluctuate very much that you have to worry about boating on it?

Saguaro (aprox 10 miles long) and Canyon Lakes (been awhile... maybe 10 miles long-very narrow) are on a chain of lakes with dams between them. The chain starts at Roosevelt Lake-big by AZ standards and mellow but beautiful, Apache Lake- hard to get to, Canyon Lake, then Saguaro Lake also beautiful. Saguaro can be fun but a lot of the partiers go to Lake Pleasant now. The water does fluctuate seasonally, lowering toward the fall. There are no real issues as the fluctuation is gradual and you get to "know" the lake if you boat frequently. The dams on the smaller lakes make the levels fluctuate at night mostly. The worst I've seen is the unfamiliar boater shored up over night to wake up high and dry till late morning/noonish.
