designing a cat
Hey guys, its late and im bored so i am goofing around in auto-cad designing a cat. I have always loved the look of the USA racing cats and that is loosely what i am designing this boat around. I know the boats performance was questionable, however, i like the look and overall lines of the boat. That look is what im going for.
I have absolutely no performance cat knowledge. But my question before i get started is on most respected cats what is the tunnel width in comparison to the beam?
What i have drawn out so far is a 38' loa, 12' beam at its max, and 11' at the transom. As of right now the tunnel is 6' wide down the entire length of the boat.
This leaves makes the sponson 2'-6" at the transom and just a tad over 3' at the max beam. Does this sound about right? Or am i way off?
This is not a project i intend to build, its just for fun, but when i do something i try to do it right. Any advice is appreciated.

Posts: 18 depends on your definition of hot rod, If you mean large performance v's and cat's then there is no comparison to LOTO, if you mean small drag big blown blocks then west coast.
