Default New boat suggestions needed!!!

I have owned a Chrysler 231 Courier Hydro Vee for more than 22 years. In 1990 I fitted a 200HP mariner with a 21 pitch prop. This transformed the boat into a genuine 65MPH boat. Any of you that are familiar with this boat will know that it is an 18ft Bowrider with a form of a tri-hull design.

We live on a lake that has mountains all around and when the wind gets up we get reasonable sizes waves, but they are short and sharp as opposed to rolling waves. The boat will fly and land without any upsets. I have had this boat out in weather that would sink most boats its size, however it is now becoming a bit old and soft and I am looking to replace it.

I have tested all of the current generation bowriders, ie Sea Ray, Glastron, Bayliner, Monterey, etc and did not like them, not only are they slow, I found that their shallow V design were very nervous when turning in heavy water at any kind speed. I have a budget of $25,000-$30,000 and am looking for something up to 26ft. It really needs to be a bowrider as I have small kids, but I would consider anything. I want to try and stick with a 60+MPH boat.

One of the boats that has been suggested to me is a 20ft Wellcraft Excalibur fitted with a 350 MPI, has anybody got experience with one of these or has anybody got any other suggestions of a suitable boat?

All help much appricated.

Thanks

Warren
