Didn't realize who you were! I'm glad I only said nice things about your drives. I still love the 8's with the boxes on them.

On another note, what classes if any nowadays could you run diesels in still?

In the states: Extreme class anything goes, but there is no real way to make a series, pair or single diesel setup competitive with a light weight blower motors with no weight classes or even against the light weight turbines.

In Europe, you can run both P1 classes but I am not certain one can be really competitive with a diesel in either class as its a strictly HP/WT formula and there goes any advantages of either.

Hustler, Sunseeker, Buzzi and some others try to run in the P1 classes. In Supersport the Hustler is fairly competitive, near the front and lead a race, but in Evolution, the gas engines run away from the diesels. I think King of Shaves won by 4-5 minutes over second place and that might not have been a diesel powered boat even.

The boats are typically over weight for the rules just because they have a pair of diesels.

Non of P classes here allow diesel any more (like the sportsman did)?

I guess you can't rely on the fact that close to 50% of the gas baots will break anymore???

I just said that as a joke, but that is the basis for this whole discussion about diesels and gas and what breaks or doesn't.

The factor that we overlooked about why the Buzzi boats ran so well, was just the fact they ran. Buzzi taught us well, the plan was the minute the flag dropped run as fast as you can because the gas boats won't want to when they're heavy with fuel. Make them chase you and then make them play catch up - most will break down before they can ever catch you. He was right, I know that doesn't apply anymore the way racing is today but that was a big factor way back when.

Even my little sportsman boats had their share of trophies, not becaue they were fast but because the diesel finished!

Rik,what was the THE rigging you guys used for that 46 to go that fast......
