Hi, Jim. This is really a mental exercise for now. Maybe in the future something will happen.

Cobra Marty,

Are you saying that a boat, complete, without an engine, cannot be financed by a bank?

cobra marty 01-15-2002 12:54 PM

My banks wanted engine serial numbers and wanted to know that the boat was completed- I bought my boat new from Cobra and supplied the engine. They had to tell the bank that it was complete and running. Can't blame them. What if they had to reposes it. I don't know if all banks require this. I would call some boat financing companies and see what they say.

Interesting Marty. But I'm not sure what you mean. If the engine and the boat are financed from different entities and the boat has to be reposessed, then what?

All I can tell you is that the marine industry in general is hurting big time and anyone thinking of starting a busines in this arena should look some where else.
Sorry :( :(

Dr Santiago,
THanks for the advice, but the question really is in the idea, not in the economy. What do you think?

rtaylor 01-15-2002 10:20 PM

Come on, how about some more contributions to this idea. DO we have to talk about stereo systems and BMWs all day or what?

rtaylor 01-16-2002 07:48 PM

any more takers?
