Post who runs custom power?

Trying to get and idea who runs custom power. Let us know who's engines you run, how much hp, how relible, what you like and dislike, how they idle, how many hours, are they blown or naturaly aspirated, would you use the same builder again, etc.

I currently run a single naturally aspirated 540.
Myself and a friend (he owns a marine repair shop) did all the machine work and assembly.
I did not dyno the 540 , I originally built the motor as a 502 and had some reversion problems. I dynoed the 502 and that made 625hp , the motor is the same except it is a 540. I'm guessing around 675hp. It makes my non efficient boat run 80 on gps.
I have no dislikes about this motor ,it is very user friendly . It will idle at 800rpms all day without fouling a plug.
Right now it has 50 hours on it and I had one problem which was partially my fault. I broke a lifter, other than that it has been trouble free. I plan on using it one more season and then I will freshen it up.

I run a 625HP 454 Whipple charged engine in my 222 Stinger. 5 lbs of boost, 8:1 pistons, Crane Roller Cam. Forged pistons, rods and crank. 454 Magnum heads with no work other than crane valve springs, crane roller rockers and Inconel valves. It was built by Maximum Performance Marine in Wilmington, Del. It ran all last season without a single problem. What a great motor....

I'm running a pair of natural 409's. Comp Cam, World Heads ported and polished, 1.6 roller rockers, Eagle Crank, Speed Pro Pistons, Bowtie Block, Performer Intake, and Holley carb. I built them and I'm pretty happy with them. They idle good, and have plenty of power. But I need to spend time tuning them. I've got about 6 hours of breakin on them now. Desktop Dyno puts them at 425 HP and 480 Ft/lbs for torque. Not to bad for SBC's.

Heres a pic of one of them. http://photos.yahoo.com/bc/jeffsnova...r=boat&.view=t

By the way, anybody know how much advance I can run at 10:1 compression? I'm running 31 degrees now, but I think thats alittle conservative.

Travis, Tom Z built a 383 with pretty much the same setup, but he used a Comp Cam Extreme Marine cam, sam as me. I think he got around 380 out of his. But I don't think he had a roller valve train. You gotta love small blocks. Simple and easy to build.

Good Morning Thunderdan!
You really need to get yourself a plane ticket to Miami and check out the Miami International Boat Show. There will be many custom engine builders present to talk to face to face. February 14th-19th.
