New Mercury Outboard "The Beast" ???
Mercury Challenge
Mercury Marine has developed new power for outboard offshore center console applications. Mercury and Mercury Racing extend a challenge to owners of high horsepower - triple outboard-powered center console boats to run against Mercury’s newest engines. Event Details What: Outboard Offshore Center Console Shoot-Out When: High noon – Thursday, January 24, 2008 Where: Fountain Powerboats Headquarters: Washington, North Carolina Results will be announced in the Mercury Booth at the Miami Int’l Boat Show Bring It On! Contact Rick Mackie at 920-924-2032 to reserve your chance to run against the beast. |
Maybe Mercury/Fountain should mount triples of the "beast" on the same Fountain hull for a better comparision. This way Reggie gets one win and one loss and the OSO gets to see a valid apples to apples test of the engine preformance vs. a Reggie prepared the hull. As you know, Reggie isn't much into losing!
As a side benefit, Mercury doesn't beat up a good customer. |

I read somewhere a 375xs Optimax, something like a 3.8 stroker.

Well, at least they gave the industry 3 days to prepare.
And what goods a comparison if the engines aren't on the same hull? What's one of these 'Beasts' going to weigh anyway? Yamahas 350HP V-8 weighs 808# with a 25" shaft. |
Oh god this is good!
