Talk into something other than a Sunsation 288

My wife and I have decided to wit a year before jumping into a boat. This will extend our price range from a 24-25 boat... into a larger single engine boat. Really like the looks and features of the Sunsation 288 MCOB. I like the concept of the MCOB and so does my wife (very important). I also think MCOBs are good in terms of resale that it's desireable by a larger boating demographic.

We're really stuck on a 288 MCOB. Is there anything else that I might not be looking at but should be?

The criteria I have are:

1) single engine
2) trailer with F-150 confortably
3) $50K-ish (is a 288 in that price range?)
4) handles rough well (I'm a wuss)
5) looks good
6) all the speed I can get out of a 496HO (no sup chrg)

288 is a great boat and you can get one in the $50K range but it will most likely be a closed deck as the mid-opens did not come out until 2003 and they are still in the 60's/70's range (but anything is possible in today's market).

Other mid-opens to consider would be Donzi 28, Nordic 28 Heat (25 Rage as well), Checkmate 270, Envision 29 (slowest of the boats listed but great rough water ride).
