Just finished a conversion of an Arneson ASD6 to the new ASD7. Very nice piece and a simple change over. I feel a lot better about the boat now. The drives are on a 388 Hustler Slingshot with almost 1000 hp a side (Young Performance 925 EFI) The boat is very loose in the back end and has a lot of natural lift. I was always concerned that the skegs would come out of the water when the boats gets loose and it would swap ends. The boat really can't be run over 100 because it gets out of shape to bad. This had nothing to do with the drives, it's the boat. The boat was designed to run fast with mild power, and it does. It was never intended to have this much power. We are hoping the larger skegs will actually help to calm the boat down. As soon as it warms up, we'll find out. Here are a few pics of the old and the new. Enjoy, Eddie.

I see your doing just the tail?.. still basicly a asd6 with a larger fin.. the ads7 has a higher hp raiting. correct? good thing its arneson with 1000hp. but Im not sure it will help "hold" the boat. may turn better though... but what do i know...

The motors and drives have just over 170 hours on them and we have not had the least bit of trouble from the drives (and motors too)
They have performed flawlessly with almost 1100 ft lbs of torque. They haven't been abused, but they haven't been babied.

I'm not sure on the HP rating of the 7. All I changed was the tube, which has a larger skeg. I used the same prop shaft. The tube came with races and seals installed, and I just put the existing prop shaft and bearings in it. I really hope it helps the boat handle better, so we can use some more of the power. At least I feel it will make it safer.

These drives are so easy to work on!!!

That boat over a 100mph with Bravos or any drives is crazy. My buddy had the purple one and it ran 116 with 675 Eickerts. which was honking for that hp. The problem was it wanted to ride the center of the V since you are out of the water. A pad style like Fountain would probably be much more stable.

We are currently running 16.5 x 36 5 blade Mercs that have had the tips taken off to reduce the diameter to 16. These are the best by far. I still don't know how well it's proped for top end since we can't run it It will run 62-63 mph at 3000 rpm and 95-96 mph at 4000 rpm. We have had it to 118, but just for a split second. It really got my attention, like something REALLY bad was about to happen.
The drives have been great and yes, they are VERY easy to work on.
This thing just goes wild over 100. It's not just chine walking. It actually starts to buck. I call it greyhounding. Like it's rocking forward and backward on the step. It's trying to go in 6 different directions at the same time. Not a knock against the boat. It is a dynamite boat.It was just never designed for this much HP. The new 39 Rocket should take the power MUCH better.
