No complaints here.
Neither use a drop of oil, and have
330 hrs on them.
The only bad I've heard is with the newer units
that have the B&M blowers, the rear bearings
in the supercharger have had a few failures.
Love the whine too

Gellner took a few from 575 to 750 pretty easy. A year or so ago I made the decision between 525 and 575. I chose 525 because:
1.) Unless you're going to make them 750's, the 3-4 mph difference between the two engines was not enough (on real hot days I've heard they run pretty much the same speed)
2.) didn't want to hunt for 91 octane (525 runs on 87)
3.) 525 is still being made, 575's are being phased out for the 600 and 700 package
4.) I'd rather have efi n.a. up to the 700 mark, then go blown beyond that, less maintence in my opinion
5.) More market on re-sale of 525 (again just my opinion)

Had a pair in a 382 Formula, & w/ about 20 easy new hours the st. blower grenaded & took out the hole engine. Then all new long block and blower(NEW ENGINE) even though Merc would not call it that! same engine had other issues, don't remember exactly in 2nd summer. Fixed, then summer of my 3rd season w/ the boat & about 100 or so hours if I remember right, both right & left engines, the bearings in the pully's at the front of blowers went bad! End of that boat!!! Not real technical so hope my story makes a little sense. Very Very bad experience w/ these engines! & I am not hard on my stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Short time with mine so far but love them. Mine were freshened and bumped to 625 by Innovation before I got the boat. They start and idle extremely well for blower motors. The throttle response and blower whine are awesome and they are surprisingly fuel efficient. I ran the Sarasota Poker Run (80-90mph), burned 110 gallons and covered more than 110 miles. The boat tops out at 103ish.
