Would like to here some thoughts that anyone has on this
new engine Merc announced at show todat. the V350
A few other details are leaking out from the boatbuilders and such. Some details:

1. it's a new engine and not just a software dialup of the 300. It has new heads, new supercharger and other internal parts changes....no change in boost pressure.
2. It is the same displacement as all other 6 cyl verados.
3. It will burn 91 mandatory and carry the same warr as the XS 300 (2 yr).
4. some changes to the gearcase - I assume more strength
5. and it is WILD looking....look for pics here on the start of the show with another surprise that will blow you away.
6. about the same weight as any othe 6 cyl verado (635)
ne.

The gear cases had some issues before. Its probably got hardened internals now like all the race outboards have. Still helical, not near net forged straights, for it has no expansion tank for gear lube.

The cars.com boat is a quad 300xs boat. I am talking about the hooters boat when it had 250s on it, that was an 84 mph boat. But 85 with 3 motors on that big boat is impressive.

What kind of lower ? Does it have low water pickups ?

The write up says it has straight cut gears.

Well 2 350V @ $60,000. or 4 300xs @ $60,000 wich way would you go?

Good question-

weight of 2 350's is better, drag of 4 drives is worse, 1200Hp is better than 700HP, etc.

Can't wait to see the responces!!

the weight savings of a 300xs makes up for the 50 less HP imho, but I'd have a hard time giving up the extra 1000 rpm you get w/ a verado. I miss the old days when you could get a 2stroke outboard to turn 8500.

God bless the transom that has to hold those things.

Ok I think your better off going with 3 300xs and save 15k for gas beer and girls, and have 900hp 1515 lbs.

Or go with 2 350V 60K 700hp ,1334lbs.
Same warranty 2 years and same 91 oct.
