Did you do the research or did youread some one elses flawed study? That study asumes all fuel cost ( most is diesel not gas by the way) including the cost to pruduce the seed that was planted. I am suprised they didn't claim the gas to cut the trees down or till the grasslands 100 years ago. Why don't you sit down and figure all the fuel it takes to produce a gallon of gas?
When you figure that the corn was going to be grown anyway , the cost per gallon is very close. Very little ground that has been outof production has gone into production to make ethanol. The only ground out of production was subpar ground anyway. Sort of like the higher crude prices making drilling for oil economical in places it hasn'tbeen before.

Now lets see the market price of pure ethanol runs from $2 to $2.50 a gallon depending on the state. Lets take the high price of $2.50. Gasoline spot market price is $2.53 a gallon (in other words before they pile on the taxes). Now they gonna spend $3.21 to make $2.50 worth of ethanol. Also before you start yelling government conspiracy. That $2.50 price is the market price so it includes any corn subsidies. :p
