Default What tools do you keep on board?

What do you keep on the boat for tools. I like to be ready for anything, but I don't want 200 pounds of tools on board either.

Craftsman makes a boat owners kit - it comes with a nifty bag as well. I mainly use the screw drivers, because I know absolutely nothing about motors.

Great thread idea.
I used to carry damn near every tool, screws, wire, connector, Known to man.
Want to keep it light and simple - look forward to hearing others suggestions.
Also, single engine boat - do you carry a spare prop?? i always used to, in the event I needed it to get me home.

I would recommend an 1.25" dowel and spare clamps. You never know when you may need to plug a waterline.

I was thinking about a spare impeller and spare serpentine belt for the engine too.

Tim, I like your new signature.

I carry one of those craftsman kits in the abs plastic case .It lays perfectly flat (2") in one of the over head compartments. Also a 6x9 nylon ditty bag full of various bolts, nuts, connectors and tape. For anything more serious a 50' 1/2" tow rope .

I carry a soft sided tool bad from HD, they are cheap and perfect for the boat.
In it I have: cheapie wrench and socket set, cheapie cause I always forget to take them out and that way I can throw them away every now and then when they get hammered.
Screwdrivers
Test-light
Standard pliers and set of needle nose.
A couple Radio Shack test leads with alligator clips, very handy for testing, or getting home, I once used one to bypass a safety lanyard switch that failed.
A small can of WD 40
Roll of that hose repair tape.
A plastic prop case when I got away to a place I have never been or the Keys. In the prop case, I have a prop, wrench, cheap swim goggles and small block of 2x4. I once had to take prop off because I ran over a some fishing line and without a block of wood to stop prop from spinning it is not that easy.

Lastly I have a TowBoat US card though in case it gets really ugly.
