No one has mentioned it so I will. I heard that the Ilmors are not good for heavy v bottoms. Something to do with the torque?????????? Anyone know if it is true. Also on a side note of the Merc 700sci I was told 250-300top end and 450+ on the bottom.

To much speculation on this thread, still waiting to see who has over 200 hours with out a rebuild....and the drive issue to say that it will be more in comparision to a #6, vs the NXT, where is the data to support this as well..Thank You. Jeff

I believe there is as much data to support Ilmor as there is to support the Merc 700 and NXT package. I do know of several merc issues with the 700 and some issues with their drives. I however am not aware of any issues with the 700 Ilmors. Naturally their drive is only in testing so there really is no data available for those. I know of some NXT transmiison problems, some broken prop shafts and I also know Merc has handled most of these problems. I will still put my money on Ilmor.

118 hours is great..my point is what was mentioned in a earlier post...As much as we all or some of us like these motors, you guys should not be quoting 500 hours between builds, thats all. I like these motors but like everything time will tell. The Ilmor service center in our area is a joke..Ive had previos dealings with them and it amazes me how they became a dealer..Good luck with these motors..Keep us informed. Thanks jeff

Whats the service center?? I'd like to know. Thanks Jass

The only thing I've heard on this is falls more on the drive side of things..... The motor does make quite a bit of low end torque and cant put a load on the drive.... But that's true of a lot of BBC packages too.

Sure and thanks I just pm ya some info.

Yeah we at first were going to go twin 525's just to get it on the water but got set up with the 710's. This thread is great to see what kind of things we need to watch and what we can look to get speed wise. This boat is just plane sick the true loa on it is 34 with a 123" beam so should finally see a more east coast style boat coming from a west coast builder. The 710's we hope will be the ticket but we do have alot of guys still looking at teague 900's
