I hear ya, and I use that phrase frequently. Use him for transport, don't use him for transport. Doesn't affect me either way. The guys still hauling boats weekly for people back and forth across this country, with or with out the help of OSO. And again, all the people that have ever used him will stand up immediately and tell you he's the best they've used.
I'll say this, again. When the trial is over and all the facts are known I think there will be some suprised people as to what, when, who, etc. It'll be interesting. We'll see how it pans out. And in the mean time, if I need my boat moved, he'll be the first I and many others will call with out hesitation. Like I said, I can only go off of personal knowledge and experience, not gossip.

I remember seeing a couple of threads Jeff got into it with some others that were transporting boats. Whatever, not really my concern.
However, I can comment on this (as I have before), He's moved countless boats for me and friends with out ever a hick-up. And I always laugh when people would bring up insurance and all that. When he was bringing our Cig from Florida a guy with a large 5th wheel clipped the swim step in a gas station.
Jeffs insurance dealt with the other drivers insurance, an adjuster came out to see the damage and wrote me a check for 3500 dollars on the spot to replace the step. Easiest insurance transaction I"ve ever dealt with.
And everyone can speculate about what happened with the cardshark boat but in the end, it will all come out and until that day, I kind've like to believe in our system that people are innocent until proven guilty, judged by a jury of peers, based on facts. Not a bunch of people going off of rumors from an armchair and a computer.
I can only attest to Jeff's character from what I've seen personally and dealt with on a business level and that has always been true to his word, first rate work.
And since we're bringing in personal opinions and speculation...I'll say this; Jeff's never done anything the owner of a boat didn't want done.
I'll reserve all other comments for when the trial is over and all the facts come to light. It’s going to be interesting, I can assure you that.

Bottomline, BGChub used this site to support his transport business. Then is indicted for involvement in a large, very public boat theft. Wait, I should stop, I'll get a really mean PM from one of BG's new screen names. DO us all a favor, please, please, haul TD's Stingray to the big wood chipper.... MR

I never dealt with him and never will. Even if some are surprised by the outcome...no matter how you slice it he still withheld information for months and never would have given information, it took him getting caught to spill whatever truth about the deal.
I am sure that most customers had good dealings or he would not have had customers. By the sounds of it he had little to no insurance (compared to others) and ended up in sketchy deals. I would think OSO's post is semi proof of that. He was called out in this thread and others about the laws. Even the not for hire tag (to park at your house) is sketchy.
Either way, he withheld info to save his butt not matter what his involvement was. What if he hauls your next boat, it ends up stolen, and he does not tell anyone (regardless of a 50k reward) all because he is scared the police will think he is involved because of prior incidents. No reason to chance it when others have as good or better service without the baggage!

Outside of the Box Opinion
I don't know him...hope to never need to use a boat hauler!
After months of reading all this I will say this. Politicians to workers can be tempted! My gut feeling is the money was just to good so he took the deal. I hope I'm wrong but can't see it any other way.
I see a nice boat at a truckstop...I ask the hauler...hey dude! I'll give ya 20K in cash for that boat. So he falls asleep and I roll away with a whatever ya wanna value the boat at. He files an insurance claim and all is done.
An owner in financial trouble calls and says he has a smooth deal worked out. You haul my boat to these guys(theifs) and you get an easy long haul for a short haul.
I don't think I could do business with a rep like this even if I had previous satisfactory transactions.
