I hope none of this is true, he seemed like a good guy from what you read on this site. Then again so did Fred, but I guess you never know. Welcome to the world of offshore boating.
In this case, I'd say yes. Let's not forget - and this is a little background info for those of you who may be new - but this attitude is a reflection of Jeff's pizz-poor attitude from day one when he discovered this site (and it's ensuing gold-mine of shipping business). It was Jeff who ran rampant with his maligned, ill-mannered sht-on-everyone attitude, so that he can steal business and line his pockets. Jeff went out of his way to make it a point to pizz on everyone who dared offer up an empty hitch to their OSO friends -- oh no, don't you dare, the expert's come to the rescue, everyone else is unworthy. Some of you will remember this period of time.
By the way, those of you who may have paid him for transport might be owed some money, after all a not-for-hire truck is driving for favors, not commercially.
Here's the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration website: http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/
(the insurance and liability section is especially interesting) Have fun.
Thanks nick. This guy has takin money out of my pocket several times.
If the boat was reposessed, it would be for lack of payment on a loan, correct? And would the bank or lender not put the boat back up for sale, almost instantly? And because this is such a high profile boat, would'nt the sale or advertisement of this boat sale be noticed by somebody here? OF COURSE IT WOULD! I call BS on the repo theory!!
That and if it was a Repo the owner and insurance company would have immediately been contacted and no reward or press release would have been posted.
Personally if it was done by mistake and Jeff was given or told false information it was only a day of so before the Stolen Report showed up all over on Boating Sites nationwide.
I would have thought that would at the very least bought up a red flag in my mind. Since he's on most of these sites on a daily basis looking for loads it would have been impossible not to notice the "Card Shark" Reward posting. If I were duped in this fashion I know the first call I would make would be to the Authorities looking for the boat and giving them all the information that I had.
Maybe that was done and we'll see in the coming days hopefully it was just a horrible mistake. But this seems to have taken way too long for this to come out to expect a positive outcome as far as the boat was concerned.

The whole thing sounds fishy. If you repoed a boat and it was posted all over OSO huge reward and everyone was looking for it wouldn't you say something?
As for the situation showing up in the paper or on the 6:00 news, if the feds have a big investigation and they pick someone up in one state and extredite them to Texas who would contact the press? I think it would be kept quiet as there are probably more people connected they want to question. They may start looking into all of the other boats that have vanished without a trace over the past year or two trying to find a connection.
Hopefully it's all a big misunderstanting!
ya know I dont have a dog in this fight either but the similarities between him and douchebag fred are amazing. They guarded this site like crazy bashing others that got close to their field of making money all the while doing illegal shiit behind the scenes...
If it was he's coming back to the airwaves, maybe it's an upcoming story...
I agree with Geno that if the was an investigation it would be kept quiet but I would think they could have done something before the boat was put to the shredder....That gives me shivers just thinking of that beautiful boat being cut up and destroyed...

In any REPO case you will have papers from the bank stating default on the loan and for how long it been that way. Once the said item is located you must go to the local P.D. and let them know whats going on and show them all of the paper work from the bank and your REPO license. So when the owner reports it stolen they will correct them and no stolen vehicle report can be made for a claim to an Insurance company. If it is at a storage yard or maitenance facility you have the right to take it , the charges can be paid and the bank will reimburse the Reposseser . and tack it on to thier expense .
You can't just cut a lock and take something in the dead of night because someone tells you they have defaulted on a loan , a little more complicated than that. Their are alot of rules to that game of playing REPO man, I used to do it........

I'm sorry. I looked at the threads you posted, and what I see are several people jumping all over BgChubby01, not the other way around. I don't see any problem with someone in the transportation business advising people to be sure that the carrier they use has insurance, or that their insurance coverage is applicable. A loss of that magnitude would be financially devastating for many people.
