I lost my little friend Lucky today
#21
I know how you feel. I had to put my little mate to sleep last year. He's buried under an olive tree. 13 years of stress relief from that little guy. Hope you find another to ease your loss.

We had the same experience years ago with a cat we'd had for less than a year. They tell you when it's time to let them go...
We still miss that one, but don't regret having had her for the time we were allowed to.
We all think we're so tough, roaring around in our macho machines, and then these little balls of fur reduce us to tears....
RIP, Lucky (and all the other faithful friends...)

Sorry for your loss. She looked adorable.
You did the right thing.
I know because I went the other way with one of our cats, Freddy. He developed a tumor in his abdomen. A specialist recommend surgery. They felt it could be removed. Well, during surgery they decided otherwise and recommended we put him to sleep. He was 15.
I don't feel we tossed money away attempting to save him. No, not at all.
About four weeks ago we were faced with another decision. Another of our cats, Mac, suddenly became ill. Vet said there was a large mass in the left side of his chest. Doc prescribed some medication, didn't help. One Saturday morning he acted like he wasn't hungry, wandered the house constantly. At times all he wanted was to be held. Called the vet, took him in. We knew it was time for a decision, doc concurred with us that it was time. He was 14.
The doc thought there may be a chance for Mac with surgery. Our final decision came from the lesson learned from Freddy, and Dixie (who died in our arms late one Sunday night with no vet available) from kidney failure. He was 13.
We really couldn't afford for Mac to have surgery and we damn well didn't want him to go like Dixie.
So we did the right thing.
