Offshoreonly.com - NJPPC Names Tom Anselmi 2007 Performance Powerboater of the Year!

Toms River, NJ March 3rd, 2008 - The New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club (NJPPC) recently hosted it's annual Atlantic City Winter Party at Trump Marina Hotel & Casino. On that evening it was announced that member Tom Anselmi (Tom A. - on OSO) was to be inducted into NJPPC's Hall of Fame as it's 2007 Performance Powerboater of the Year.
Tom first joined NJPPC back in 2000 and attended his first poker run with club the same year. Prior to joining NJPPC, Tom was an active offshore racer as member of Kamikaze Racing Team that was based out of the Jersey Shore. When Tom first joined NJPPC, he owned a 22' Donzi Classic. After extensive engine modifications that included a supercharger, he had the fastest 22' on Barnegat Bay. Tom campaigned his 22' Donzi Classic "driving it like he stole it" until a few stringers and bulkheads gave way after relentless hours of use. It was at that time Tom knew it was time to sell the boat to someone with great fiberglass talents and move up to something a little bigger.

In 2003, Tom moved up to a brand new 29' Kryptonite. Tom knew that he could put the Kryptonite to the test since he watched the same make and model boat win numerous offshore races and championships on the racing circuit under the name Typhoon Racing. Once again, Tom was not satisfied with stock power so he took the supercharged 502 out of the Donzi and had it refreshed from "top to bottom." Once completed, Tom actively campaigned the 29' Kryptonite on the NJPPC poker run circuit and also traveled as far as Canada to attend the 1000 Islands Poker Run.

As content as Tom was with his 29' Kryptonite he started to set his sights on his dream boat. Being partial to a sit down boat he began combing classified ads for a sit down 38-42' boat. After an extensive search and numerous negotiations he went back to his Donzi roots and last fall Tom purchased a 38ft Donzi ZR Competition that is powered with a pair of Mercury Racing 575's. Tom took delivery of his dream boat at the Poker Runs America Sarasota Poker Run. The helicopter photos of his new 38' boat were outshined by huge smile Tom had while driving!

Besides Tom's passion for performance boating what makes Tom stand out is his never ending positive attitude. Tom is one of the few performance boaters that doesn't miss a beat when the mechanical gremlins arise. When the gremlins appear, allot of people put their heads down and decide not to go to a given event but not Tom Anselmi. Tom's attitude is "oh well I will deal with that on Monday - who can I jump on with?" With him having that attitude he is welcome on almost everyone's boat. This is a shining example of his passion and his love of performance boating.

Tom also has a huge heart. Since joining NJPPC Tom has been a part of Shore Dreams For Kids every year. He has given countless boat rides to Shore Dreams attendees year after year. Once again, if his boat is not ready on Shore Dreams day he is on the docks helping lift physically challenged attendees in and out of boats.

Tom's passion, good nature, dedication to NJPPC and overall amazingly positive persona is the reason why Tom was selected to receive the 2007 NJ Performance Powerboat Club Performance Powerboater of the Year award. Tom enjoys NJPPC so much he comically says "NJPPC is not a boating club. NJPPC is a social club with a boating problem."

Tom exemplifies what New Jersey Performance Powerboat Club is all about and what the club stands for. He shares everyone's passion for performance powerboating as well as being an ambassador of kindness, good will and generosity. Tom is all deserving of being named 2007 NJPPC's Performance Powerboater of the Year.
