Surveyor in Central Ohio

Looking for someone in or around the Columbus area.

Prefer one that has some knowledge at least of performance boats.

Also, is it common for a Surveyor to do both moisture testing AND compression and/or leak down tests for you, or is that two different guys?

Sorry if this is a dumb question.

Thanks,
Phil

Thanks Scott. It appears that most guys would have a 2.5 hour(plus) drive to get there.

I'll give your guy a call.

Phil

Yes your correct I've heard of a couple great guys in the Cleveland market. One of them drove to Monroe Michigan to survey one of our club members boat and he could not believe the job he did. I think the exact quote was "That's the guy I want to survey my new boat"

If you need his info I can get it to you but it may take a few days.

Based on what Ive heard from lots of others. Greg Groupe is the guy you want to use.

Pj did they except your offer? Here is a link for some surveyors in Ohio, the above mentioned are on it. There may be one closer to columbus area. I seen one in Franklin I think thats close. http://www.marinesurvey.org/oh.html

Paul Kody did my scarab, He will find everything there is wrong with that boat. Brokers hate him, thanks to him we beat up the seller pretty good. We backed out of the deal. Seller knocked a whole bunch of money off.

No, they are temporarily pulling it from the market though (supposedly). The "owner" is paying to have a survey done, the results they may or may not share with me. The idea is that it has some damage, which I may have told you about. Interestingly, they are using a surveyor of my choice, so I feel semi - confident that the findings will be straight up. Wost case scenario is they refuse to allow me to have access to the survey and I am forced to buy it from the Surveyor. (no biggie). They are so far upside down at this point I think they are just trying to get a handle on what is happening.

I made an offer, but when they heard about the last perspective buyer backing out because of some rot he discovered, they decided to get it looked at a see what they are really dealing with.

Wish me luck (and don't try to buy my boat) :cool-smiley-011:
