Default Looking for good security system for the boat

My insurer has offered me a 10% discount if I put in an anti theft security system in the new Nor Tech. Can anyone make a recommendation ?? I would expect that it should have a GPS tracking system.
thanks,
Bob

Here's one that has been getting a lot of looks:
http://www.dewalt.com/us/security/mobilelock/

Apparently, it's a whole lot less money than a "marine-specific" make, and with all of the thefts in South Fla, well worth looking into.

No affiliation whatsoever, just something I picked up from another board.

I remember reading about a cover snap that would sound the horn when removed. You could also add a fuel shut off and a hidden switch for the hatch.

Thank you. Looks interesting. May not work for me as it is for USA only. While my boat is in the US 8 months a year it also spends 4 months each summer in Canada.
Any other suggestions? I would think there would be all kinds of them out there?
Bob

Hey Bob I have many different options that I am looking at right now as Scott offered me the same discount. I currently have about 4 different vendors I currently deal with in my business now selling to different types of clients. I will let you know which one will work best.

Initially what i am thinking is putting a cellular modem into the boat, hard wiring to the ignition and there is a small GPS receiver / antenna that I can place on the dash for clear shot of the sky. About $25.00 per month and you can go on-line anytime and get realtime updates. It will tell you where it has been, speeds etc. so piece of mind when it is being towed too.

I will give you a call later on......

It will be hard to find a GPS unit that will go very far into Canada. Not to say that it will not work up there, just seems that most companies stop tracking up that way..... I am sure there are a few that will work. I had a thread on this a while back I will try and find it so that you can have a link.

search feature is not working. If you want to try later I know that I started the thread and it was about alarms and GPS units.
