Box Anchor size question...........
Looking at ordering a box anchor for a Donzi 35ZR for a second anchor, mostly for a lunch hook. Those who own one what size anchor do you recommend?
Box Anchor sizes:
Small Box Anchor (collapsed)
$129.95 19 lbs. 22.0" 8.5" 5.0"
Large Box Anchor (collapsed)
$159.95 25 lbs. 25.0" 9.5" 5.5"
Thank you.

I have to respectfully disagree with you. I have had the small anchors for my last boat (31 ft. 10K lbs) and my present one(38 ft. 12K lbs.). It works fine!!! It's also very easy to store in the bag that is included.
SDH,
I see that you live in Annapolis. I live in Edgewater. If you would like to stop by and see what the small anchor looks like, PM me and I'll forward my cell#. Hell, you can borrow it if you'd like.

I just went through this last week..thread above...I ended up getting a never used small box anchor from Matt, 99Fever27 on the board. It does a great job for my 43 Nortech as my stern anchor...I tried it last night before I put it on the trailer..I bet it would be a great bow anchor but would get the next size up "large". Good Luck. Jeff

They dig really well and a "small" will hold my 29 footer and two other boats tied alongside. Only down side is that they bring up quite a bit of mud and can sometimes be difficult to recover if the bottom is clay. This is Galveston Bay with the tide running and wave action

Yes the 'small' isn't really that small, and it works awesome. It's like the Ronco of anchors, set it and forget it!
It does bring up some mud/junk usually but really not any more than what comparable sized spade anchor will pull up. And for the holding power/ease of use it is worth it, just splash it a couple times or hold it low enough under the boat and idle along a little ways and it cleans right off.
I'd like to get baby this year for a stern anchor.
